Lottery Number Generator

Pick a real lottery or dial in your own format, then let the balls tumble and drop into place. Unbiased, unsentimental, and free of anyone’s lucky numbers.

Draw / 5 from 1 to 69

5 numbers from 1 to 69, plus 1 Powerball from 1 to 26.

Random beats a system

Every combination in a fair draw has exactly the same chance, so no line is smarter than another. The draw uses your browser’s cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, so each number in the range is equally likely, with no drift toward the low end the way a naive modulo would give you.

The odds, plainly

These are the chances of matching every number in a single line, for the formats built into the presets.

FormatChance of matching everything
Powerball, 5 of 69 plus 1 of 261 in 292,201,338
Mega Millions, 5 of 70 plus 1 of 241 in 290,472,336
EuroJackpot, 5 of 50 plus 2 of 121 in 139,838,160
EuroMillions, 5 of 50 plus 2 of 121 in 139,838,160
UK Lotto, 6 of 591 in 45,057,474
Lotto (SE), 7 of 351 in 6,724,520
Keno, 10 of 801 in 1,646,492,110,120

Numbers that large stop carrying meaning, so here is one that does. Playing a single Powerball line every week, the jackpot would take on average around five and a half million years. The Keno figure is for matching all ten, which is why real keno pays out on partial matches instead.

Why a random line is still worth taking

Not because it improves your odds. It cannot, and nothing can. It changes who you share with. People pick birthdays, so the numbers 1 to 31 are heavily over-played, and lines that make a shape on the slip get chosen by thousands of people at once. A line with high numbers and no pattern is worth exactly the same going in and rather more coming out, because fewer people will be holding it.

Playing sensibly

A lottery is entertainment with a negative expected return, and that is true of every line, every format and every week, no matter how the numbers were chosen. Decide what the evening is worth to you before you buy, and treat anything that comes back as a surprise rather than a plan.

If it stops feeling like entertainment, most operators offer deposit limits and self-exclusion, and national helplines exist in most countries. This page is a random number generator, not advice to play.

Which lotteries are built in?

Powerball, Mega Millions, EuroJackpot, EuroMillions, UK Lotto, Swedish Lotto and Keno, each with the right bonus ball where the game has one. Anything else goes under Custom, where you set the count, the range and the bonus numbers yourself. Lotteries do change their rules now and then, so check the format against your operator before you buy a ticket.

Does the generator avoid previous winning numbers?

No, and it should not. Past draws have no effect on future ones, so filtering them out would shrink your options without improving anything. The balls have no memory.

Can I generate several lines?

Draw again as many times as you like, but copy each line before you reroll, since nothing is stored between draws.

Are quick picks luckier than numbers I choose myself?

Neither is luckier, because every combination is equally likely. A random line does tend to be worth more if it wins, simply because fewer other people will have picked the same unremarkable set of numbers.

What are the bonus numbers for?

They are drawn from a separate pool, which is why a game like Powerball has odds so much longer than its main pool alone would suggest. Five numbers from 69 is one in eleven million; adding one ball from a second pool of 26 multiplies that by 26.

Why did the same number come up twice in a row?

Because draws are independent. A number that appeared last week is exactly as likely as any other this week, and streaks in random data are far more common than intuition expects.
